Nigerian officials call on entrepreneurs to embrace new technologies and innovations

Lagos, Nigeria – Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Doris Uzoka-Anite, on Tuesday called on Nigeria’s young entrepreneurs to fully embrace new technologies and innovations.

Speaking at the opening of the 37th Lagos International Trade Fair organized by the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Uzoka-Anite said Nigeria was facing a challenging economic environment and businesses needed to take advantage of new technologies and innovations to meet the challenges.

The world is changing and we must change too,” she said. Innovation is certainly not a luxury or a necessity. We must embrace new technologies and adapt to the changing needs of consumers.”

Usoka-Annett said the government was working to support businesses, including providing financing and training.

It is our responsibility to provide them with the necessary support and resources they need to thrive,” she said.

The President of the Nigerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Michael Olawale-Cole, also called on entrepreneurs to embrace innovation.

He said, “No sector is immune to the challenges we face; from the impact on SMEs to the challenges faced by large corporations, we must all adapt, innovate and persevere.”

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the state government would continue to ensure an enabling business environment.

He said, “We see these challenges as great opportunities for further investment.
