This selection marks Borthwick’s first since unveiling the 33-man World Cup squad earlier this week. A standout from last season, Ollie Lawrence, partners with Joe Marchant in the center positions. Among the players retaining their spots from the previous Wales encounter are full-back Freddie Steward, prop Will Stuart, and lock George Martin.

Ben Earl, with 15 prior appearances as a replacement, is set to make his inaugural start for England. Meanwhile, Ellis Genge is poised to celebrate his 50th cap as he joins the bench.

Borthwick expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming match, highlighting the special nature of the England-Wales fixture. He shared his delight for Ellis Genge’s impending milestone, praising his professionalism on and off the field.

The impending game against Wales serves as England’s second-to-last home warm-up before the impending World Cup in France. Subsequent to this fixture, Borthwick’s team will face Ireland on August 19 and conclude their preparations against Fiji at Twickenham the following weekend.
